Design Brief

During the design review process, we discussed many aspects and methods of isolation, both in and out of audio. How effective were these existing solutions at overcoming the stated problems? What areas of address did they overlook? What techniques currently outside of audio could be brought to bear? What exactly was the negative impact of materials resonance on the audio signal? How to best measure and quantify its effects to identify appropriate countermeasures? Exploring this topic led us to essentially begin with a clean slate - the famous blank piece of paper staring at you with an implied dare.

What exactly is the component isolation system asked to do? Put differently, what are we trying to protect the equipment from?

What is the best way to achieve the goals inherent in the first two questions?

What is deficient in existing approaches?

How should one determine the effectiveness or efficiency whereby different theories and applications go about their specific solutions?

What kind of measurements would be most appropriate to quantify the exact contributions these various addresses make (or are claimed to make)?

From this questionnaire, the team set out to survey the field. It engaged in protracted, exacting Research.
